At Shelby County Obedience Club, we believe a well-trained dog is a happy dog—and a joy to live with.
Our mission is to strengthen the lifelong bond between dogs and their owners through positive, effective training. We offer a variety of classes open to the public, as well as exclusive sessions for members. Each course runs for six weeks, with one-hour classes held weekly. Whether you're just starting out or looking to advance your skills, we invite you to join our community. Public Classes
Beginner Obedience Class Learn the basics of training your dog to heel on leash, sit, stand, lay down, place (or bed), stay and come when called. Lesson plans with homework are passed out.
These classes have the added advantage of allowing socialization with other dogs and handlers in a group setting. 6 weeks - 1hr/wk - $125 total Next session starts Tue, Jun 2, 7pm Registration is Sun, May 31, 3-4:30pm Please bring your vaccination records and $125 cash or check (no cards). Introduction to AKC Rally NoviceLearn the basics of training your dog to correctly execute the AKC Rally Novice signs.
Signs are presented in the form of a numbered course which the handler and dog must maneuver around and through from Start to Finish. A Rally Novice course may have 10 to 15 signs (Start and Finish not included). There are 42 AKC Rally Novice signs which will be reviewed during the course. 6 weeks - 1 hr/wk - $125 total Next session starts Sat, May 2, 10am Registration is on the first night of class. Please bring your vaccination records and $125 cash or check (no cards). |
Obstacle Familiarization (Ob-Fam I)If you are interested in agility, this is a great place to start. Learn the basics of training your dog to correctly perform the following equipment:
A-Frame Dog Walk Tunnel Table Weave Poles Tire Jump Teeter Totter Equipment starts out low to the ground to help build confidence and are slowly raised over the six weeks. This is a great course to build your dog's confidence! 6 weeks - 1hr/wk - $125 total Next session starts Mon, Jun 1, 7pm Registration is on the first night of class.
